Valparaíso, Chile

Explore Chile with a full-immersion language program based at the Pontifícia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso (PUCV). The program focuses on Spanish language development and the study of key historical and contemporary issues in multicultural Chile.
HWS students will take classes with other US students and international students, while those with advanced language skills may also opt to enroll in PUCV courses alongside local Chilean students.
Budapest, Hungary

Study at Hungary at Corvinus University, Budapest’s centrally-located university on the Pest side of the Danube River. Enroll in courses in English covering economics, business administration, public administration, and social sciences.
All students take a Hungarian language course and select four courses from among a wide range of Corvinus University courses offered in English. It may be possible to replace an elective with a credit-bearing internship.
Lisbon, Portugal

Take on Portugal’s capital with this semester program based at the Instituto Universitário de Lisboa (ISCTE), one of Portugal’s most prestigious public universities.
All students will also enroll in one intensive Portuguese language course at the Universidade Nova de Lisboa at their appropriate language level. Students will choose their remaining three classes from a broad menu of courses taught in English at ISCTE.

The next program will take place in 2025.
Experience the Spanish way of living while studying at Universidad de Sevilla. Students will take courses both at the University and the API Center and will reside in homestays arranged by API.
Students will take 4 courses during the semester, all taught in Spanish, including the Faculty Director’s Seminar and three electives of their choosing from those offered at the Universidad de Sevilla.

Academic Programs International (API) was founded in 1997 and is dedicated to providing high-quality, affordable experiential learning programs. Their extensive pre-departure preparation, coupled with strong support services on-site, facilitates academic, cultural and linguistic learning. Within the supportive environment of the API programs, API participants are encouraged to explore their host communities and become increasingly independent and confident in their own abilities. They strive to make international educational experiences accessible to as many participants as possible, and, as such, works to provide multiple program components at a low program cost.
