Experience Salamanca from 2021 UMass Students
Course Information
Students will have four hours of coursework – taught by local faculty at Universidad de Salamanca – Monday through Friday, starting with a language class for hours 1 and 2, and electives for hours of 3 and 4. Students will take a language placement test online before departing.
Spanish Majors and Minors
Beginner Level
9 credits total
One mandatory Spanish language course (4 credits)
Two content-based elective courses (2 credits each):
- Build Your Vocabulary
- Communicative Activities
One discussion session with UMass faculty and TAs (1 credit)
Spanish Majors and Minors
Intermediate Level
9 credits total
One mandatory Spanish language course (4 credits)
Two of the following content-based elective courses (2 credits each). The courses you’re enrolled in may depend on your degree requirements. Choose 1 class for the 3rd hour and 1 class for the 4th hour:
- 3rd hour options (choose 1):
- Conversación y redacción
- Historia de la España contemporánea
- Español de los negocios
- 4th hour options (choose 1):
- Literatura española e hispanoamericana
- Cultura española
- Prácticas de destrezas orales
One discussion session with UMass faculty and TAs (1 credit)
Non-Spanish majors and minors should take a basic Spanish language course at UMass before studying abroad with this program.
