Skip the international travel during winter break and enjoy a unique winter experience with other Amerigo classmates from around the country in beautiful Austin, Texas!
In partnership with leading experiential learning company, Academic Programs International (API), Amerigo welcomes students to Austin for a chance to unwind and relax with friends before the Spring term!
Calling all Amerigo Students and Families!
This program is set up exclusively for Amerigo students from campuses around the United States to gather and spend their winter break together in Texas!
Program Dates:
- December 19, 2021 through January 2, 2022
- Deadline to apply is November 19th, 2021
Program Options and Fees:
Students are offered the choice of two programs for however they choose to spend their time in Austin!
- Experience Austin with API: $3,995
- Experience Austin+ with API (click link to learn more about bonus excursions!): $5,900

What’s Included for Both Programs
Meals - Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner
All meals will be provided for Amerigo students. Come taste famous Texan BBQ, Mexican fare, and more local delights!
Free Time to Explore Austin
All students will have the opportunity to enjoy the area, visiting local shops and delicious restaurants.
Amerigo students looking to explore more of what the city has to offer are encouraged to sign up for the Experience Austin+ program—which includes bonus excursions!
Hotel Accommodation
Students will be housed in double accomodation at a hotel with top notch amenities with restaurants, shopping, and more all within walking distance. More information to come!
24/7 On-site Support Team
From program start to end, students will be accompanied by both Amerigo staff and API resident directors. Resident directors are available 24/7 to ensure the safety and well-being of each and every student.
Experience Austin+ with API
Expand your student’s winter break experience by choosing the Experience Austin+ program for additional guided activities and excursions!
Excursions and activities may include:
- Visit and tour a nationally-ranked local university
- Tour of the city of Austin
- Industry visits to the Capital Factory – a hub for entrepreneurs and investors
- Explore Austin’s art scene with a tour of famous murals
- Art bazaar shopping from local vendors
- Austin Trail of Lights – a special holiday lights display
- Zilker Botanical Gardens
- Sporting event

Academic Programs International (API) was founded in 1997 and is dedicated to providing high-quality, affordable experiential learning programs to students of all ages. We serve thousands of participants annually, sending them to nearly 50 cities in 22 countries in Asia, Europe, Latin America, North America, the Middle East, and the South Pacific.
API’s proven track record of exceptional in-country student support and high-quality risk management will keep enrolled students feeling safe, supported, and connected during their experience. API will pre-program preparation and on-site services, including:
- Overnight chaperoning/security
- Austin-based resident directors
- 24/7 on-site emergency response
- Group Amerigo airport reception and transfer to hotel
- Group activities
API’s goal for Amerigo students is to have a safe and fun experience in Austin, Texas over winter break!
Health & Safety
The health, safety, and success of all students is our number one priority. Students will receive comprehensive support both from U.S.-based and local team members prior to and throughout their program. In advance of the start of the program, students will receive information about safety and security policies and procedures as well as materials and resources to prepare them for their experience. API’s highly qualified and experienced local team of resident directors will remain available to students throughout the program, including for 24/7 emergency response.
All students are expected to abide by any regulations enacted by local officials to control the spread of COVID-19, as well as requirements set forth by the API, local government, or housing accommodation.
