Take an intercultural plunge in Paris and uncover how French culture has impacted history, religion, art, music, literature, architecture, fashion, and food. This study tour and course offers something for almost any major. The final project component of the course is designed to support you in gathering information at the monument or establishment of your choice in Paris.

GMC 380: 3-credit course that meets CUNE’s global and multicultural studies requirement.

Option to substitute for a 3-credit elective or independent study in your major.

Meet the Professor:

Dr. Kristen Nugent, Associate Professor of Education

As an educator for more than 20 years, Dr. Kristen Nugent has served Concordia University, Nebraska since 2015, where she teaches Diverse Classrooms and Human Relations, Classroom Organization and Leadership, World Language Methods and secondary/K-12 Student Teaching Seminar. She also advises secondary education students.

Nugent earned her Ph.D. in educational studies, with an emphasis on world language teaching methods from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 2016. Previously, she served as an AmeriCorps volunteer in Chicago, before teaching high school French in Illinois and Nebraska for 12 years. She also earned a bachelor’s in secondary education and secondary French endorsement from UNL and a master of arts in French from Middlebury College in Vermont and Paris.

Dr. Nugent enjoys spending time with her husband, three sons and their adorable dog. She is passionate about the arts, reading and learning, dancing to 80s music while she cooks dinner and traveling internationally. She continually seeks to find more time to engage with issues of social justice at her church and in the community.
