Below is a list of sample activities/excursions that may be offered:

  • Pécs: The monuments in Pécs reveal a long history of Roman, Ottoman and Habsburg influence.
  • Danube Bend: Explore the palace on Castle Hill and domed Basilica in Esztergom, and the old capital city of Visegrád.
    Szeged: Known as City of Sunshine, it is the cultural and economic center of southeastern Hungary and a thriving university town. 
  • Ópusztaszer National Park: A 136-acre park dedicated to the history of Hungary and the culture.
  • Szentendre: A 12th-century baroque town.
  • Lake Balaton: The largest lake in Central Europe.

Housing in Budapest

Semester students in Budapest live in chic, student dormitory-style housing with other API participants.

Students are given a single room with a private bathroom and basic kitchenette. Bed linens and wifi are provided.

Students are responsible for providing their own meals as these are not included in the program fee.

Academic Programs International (API) was founded in 1997 and is dedicated to providing high-quality, affordable experiential learning programs. Their extensive pre-departure preparation, coupled with strong support services on-site, facilitates academic, cultural and linguistic learning. Within the supportive environment of the API programs, API participants are encouraged to explore their host communities and become increasingly independent and confident in their own abilities.
