Program Highlights
This 10-day Global Seminar is open to all students and will be taught in English. It will take students to Normandy and Paris, France, and will feature four major topics introduced in the spring course and developed further during this 10-day trip. Participation in the spring course is not required.Ā

Travel & Transportation
- Group airport pick-up in Paris, with transportation to Caen
- Group airport return in Paris
- Ground transportation on all program activities, as necessary
- Local transportation cards for Caen and Paris
Not Included:
- International airfare to and from the United States
- Passport application fees
- Luggage fees
Housing & Meals
Housing:
- Accommodation in single residence hall rooms in Caen (5 nights)
- Accommodation in shared hotel rooms Rouen and Paris (4 nights)
- Internet access at accommodations
Meals:
- Daily breakfast included after the Caen portion of the trip

- Dinner included during French Cooking Class activity

Activities & Excursions
Below is a list of the activities planned for the trip:
- Guided city tours
- Visit to the Memorial Museum, the Abbaye aux Hommes, the Abbaye aux Dames, and the castle in Caen
- Visit Bayeux Tapestry
- Guided visit of Bayeux Cathedral
- Visit to Saint Malo
- Visit to the Abbaye du Mont-Saint-Michel
- Guided excursion to the Normandy landing beaches including visiting Arromanches, Pointe du Hoc, Omaha Beach, the American and German cemeteries
- Guided visit of the old town of Rouen, the CathĆ©drale de Notre-Dame (painted repeatedly by Monet) and the Historial Jeanne dāArc museum
- Hike the cliffs of Ćtretat
- Visit to the home and gardens of Monet
- Group French Cooking Class
- Visit to the Musee d’Orsay and Marmottan Monet Museum
- Visit to the Eiffel Tower
- Free time to explore, shop, and share meals with your friends

Saint Anselm College is committed to supporting students reach their highest potential through experiential learning opportunities.Ā Ā A limited number of grants, ranging from $500-$1000 are availableĀ for students with demonstrated financial need or for those who have circumstances that may prohibit their participation in the Normandy, France program.Ā Ā The scholarship application link will be sent to students upon acceptance into the program; scholarship applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis as they are received.Ā Ā Ā

COURSE & CREDIT DETAILS
Coursework:
This program is open to all students and will be taught in English (with optional readings and discussion sections in French for French minor credit). Students enrolled in NormandyĀ Through the Ages during the Spring 2023 semester have the option to add on this summer trip, for a total of 4 credits. Students not enrolled in the spring course can attend, but will be required to conduct pre and post-trip preparation, for a total of 2-credits.
There are two course options for NormandyĀ Through the Ages:
- HU304/FR345: a 4-credit spring ā23 course with optional summer trip
- HU204/FR347: a 2-credit summer ā23 course and trip
Core designations for the 4-credit course: GLOB and AESTH.
Academic Themes include:
- MedievalĀ Normandy: William the Conqueror, Saints, and Courtly Love
- Literary Normandy: Famous Writers from the Age of Realism and Naturalism
- Normandy, Birthplace of Impressionism
- World War II: D-Day and the Battle of Normandy

Biography
Dr. Susanne Rossbach is a big supporter of study abroad having experienced the benefits of foreign travel first hand. She spent three years as a student at a French collège/lycée and did undergraduate as well as doctoral studies in Brussels, Belgium and Paris, France. She is very excited to be able to take students to Normandy next summer.

Biography
Dr. Rebecca Crisafulli first caught the study abroad bug and become a devoted Francophile on a 10-day trip in the 7th grade, when she traveled to Bordeaux and Paris, France with her French class!
She went on to advanced French studies in college and completed a doctorate. She has lived in Lyon and Paris, has traveled extensively in the French-speaking world, and can’t wait to share one of her favorite regions of France with you.
