Session 2: Business Communication in Florence (June 18 – July 3, 2022)

Optional Inter-Program Excursion: Amalfi Coast (June 14 – 18, 2022)

  • Guided walking tours of Rome and Florence including visits to famous landmarks including Trevi Fountain, Colosseum, daytrips outside the city, and more!
  • Italian cuisine and wine tasting with a cooking class
  • Visits to local businesses to better learn how they leverage social and digital media
  • Optional add-on excursion to experience the beauty of the Amalfi Coast including a boat tour, Mt. Vesuvius hike, and tour of historic Pompeii

Academic Details

PCOM 4301 Special Topic: The Social Media Influencer — Dr. Sarah E. Martin (May 31st – June 14

The Digital Media Influencer: Planning and Practice introduces students to the theories, strategies, and communication activities of the social media influencer (SMI). The course begins with an examination of the rise, and role, of the SMI in professional and strategic communication. From this foundation, the course explores how SMI content and activities support corporate, non-profit, and government communication initiatives. Special attention will be placed on the planning, promotion, and evaluation of SMI content in different communication contexts. Through the major assignments students will plan, create, and critique their own SMI content as they take on the role of active SMI while learning abroad.

PCOM 3373 Business Communication — Dr. Barbie Chambers (June 18 – July 3rd

Florence is considered the birthplace of the Renaissance and at the heart of the Tuscany region. It is full of creative energy thanks to art from Michelangelo and Leonardo da Vinci and historic sites like the Duomo and Palazzo Vecchio. This two-week course concentrates on best practices for communicating in any business or professional environment. Understanding how to effectively communicate with a variety of audiences is a skill every college student should master. Of course, taking this communication literacy course in a place like Florence is sure to create an unforgettable experience! *PCOM 3373 Requires a C or better in ENGL 1301 & 1302. Preference given to CoMC (College of Media & Communication) students but is open to all undergraduate TTU students.

    • Rome session: $3,940 per person
    • Florence session: $3,855 per person
    • Optional excursion: $1,175 per person
