PROGRAM SUMMARY:
In this study abroad experience, students will travel to Buenos Aires, Argentina and learn about Operations Management, logistics and more! Engage with local businesses, ports and more with incredible excursions and site visits in this bustling economic and cultural hub.

- Visit to the Port of Buenos Aires, one of the busiest ports in South America to better understand the challenges and intricacies involved in global trade logistics (pending availability)

- Visit the Centro de Distribución Puerto Madero (Puerto Madero Distribution Center). Located in close proximity to the port, this distribution center serves as a strategic hub for efficient logistics operations, facilitating the movement and distribution of goods within Buenos Aires and its surrounding areas (pending availability)

- Visit the La Serenísima Plant in General Rodriguez, the leading
Argentine dairy company, producing dulce de leche (an important
national export) and other milk products

- Bank Visit, with overview of banking, interest rates, and financing in Argentina

- Guest Lecture: Argentine Economy – Longer-term view, going quite
far back in time to see how Argentina went from an economy model
integrated with the world to another of a closed economy, putting
the current government in that context. - UArk debriefing (1.5 hrs)

- Guest Lecture: Adaptation & Behavioral Changes – With a local
expert, explore how logistics and operations management adapt to
South American cultural contexts, focusing on adjusting business
practices to local norms, behaviors, and expectations. Students will
navigate cultural gaps in communication, work styles,
decision-making, and social norms to manage operations effectively
in a diverse, global environment. - UArk debriefing (1.5 hrs)
