Academics

Participants will earn 14 U.S. credits during this program. UMass Amherst Croatia has 5 courses available in the catalog during the Fall term. All courses are taught in English.

  • PUBHLTH 490GH: Global Health Challenges and Opportunities, taught by UMass faculty leader Dr. Krishna Poudel (3 credits)
  • PUBHLTH 490FM: Human Rights, Health and Forced Migration, taught by a local instructor in Dubrovnik (3 credits)
  • PUBHLTH 475: The Epidemic of Loneliness: On Connection, Belonging and Public Health, with UMass faculty leader Dr. Gloria DiFulvio (3 credits)
  • PUBHLTH 390GP: Global Problems in Environmental Health taught by a local instructor in Dubrovnik (3 credits)
  • PUBHLTH 398PH: Experiential Course (2 credits)

Academic Programs International (API) was founded in 1997 and is dedicated to providing high-quality, affordable experiential learning programs. Their extensive pre-departure preparation, coupled with strong support services on-site, facilitates academic, cultural and linguistic learning. Within the supportive environment of the API programs, API participants are encouraged to explore their host communities and become increasingly independent and confident in their own abilities.
